Latest Thots & Such Nonsense!
~~October 2002~~
We are enjoying a very wonderful Spring Break right now. No school for a whole week! I have to keep reminding myself that we are on a break--I keep expecting to have to answer a question or assist with a math problem or correct a test or something.......wow, whatever will I do when these boys graduate?? *grin!*
Speaking of graduation, even though our first son has 2 more years of school I have been dreaming and planning his graduation. No, I am not in any rush, but I do have some wonderful ideas for that very special occasion, and I realize that some of the ideas will need to be started on early in his senior year, which is now only a little over a year away. Amazing! :)
We just ordered our schoolbooks for next year. Don't forget that Alpha Omega Publications is offering 20% off in the month of April! That's when I always order our books--no one else comes even close to those prices--not Amazon, not CBD, not Buy.com......nobody!
Happy Spring all!
Christ's blessings,

Each month, I will be sharing excerpts from books which I consider very worth reading. I hope they will bless you as they are blessing our family!
From The Christian Family by Larry Christenson:
Nothing is so helpful in the training of a child as the opportunity for significant work. One of the real problems connected with the urbanization of our culture is that our children have fewer work opportunities. Nevertheless, parents must see to it that their children develop good work habits. Work around the home must be given over to the children as soon as they are able to handle it. The time which they have for play and leisure must be carefully proportioned against meaningful, necessary work.
Parents, you must teach and train your children so they will like to work, or at least when faced with a piece of hard work be able to get in and do it without suffering oppression. You can rear them in Christian doctrine and culture, and by God's grace they will be 'born again'; but if you do not train them to work they will never amount to anything for God or themselves or for you. A lazy Christian never did anything for God.
We acquire knowledge through book learning, but we learn wisdom through hard work. There is no substitute for the valuable 'transfer wisdom' learned from work.
